Alura Jenson
Alura Jenson: drawing and making clothes
Her 2023 interview included creative pursuits away from filmed work. Drawing and making things were habits she developed while growing up.
Working with charcoal
Spraggins learned to draw using mostly charcoal. Her father taught her to look for shapes within an image and reproduce them on paper.
She said she continued to draw as an adult. Her interest also extended to other artists: she spoke appreciatively about the ability involved in their work.
Learning to alter clothes
She began making her own clothes at about ten. As she learned, she started customising and altering pieces that had already been worn.
This remained a practical interest in 2023. Her account concerned garments she made or adapted herself, rather than a fashion label or a professional design collection.
Plays and small constructions
As children, she and her sisters wrote plays and operas. Music, imagined characters and making things were parts of the same activities at home.
They also built miniature houses from leftover materials. She remembered experimenting with paint and plaster; the small structures used battery-powered lights.
