Alura Jenson
Alura Jenson: music and voice
Music was part of her childhood long before the name Alura Jenson. In her conversation with John A. Wilcox, Spraggins described learning instruments and singing at home.
Learning to write music
Her father brought instruments home and taught her to read music as a language. Alongside practising instruments, she remembered writing compositions on sheet paper.
She recalled composing a symphony at nine. That detail comes from her own account of childhood; she discussed it as an early experiment in making music.
Soprano training
Voice lessons developed alongside her instrumental practice. Her father introduced her to opera, and she said she trained as a soprano until seventeen.
Singing remained an interest in adulthood. In the 2023 interview, she described going to karaoke regularly and enjoying the opportunity to sing outside a professional production.
What she listened to
Asked to choose six albums, she found it difficult to limit the list. She mentioned Slippery When Wet and Blaze of Glory, then spoke broadly about the recordings of Metallica and Whitney Houston.
Disturbed, Korn, Live and Boyz II Men were also among her choices. She described selecting playlists according to how she felt, including when she needed motivation.
